What’s Wrong with Your Dog?
Barks and Boos: A Halloween Survival Guide for Dogs
Halloween is around the corner, so it's a good time to refresh on some tips to help keep your dog calm and safe.
If you dress your dog in a costume, ensure that they can move, breathe, and bark freely. None of us enjoy clothes that are too tight and they are no different. Not only these tips, but I tend to only put my dog's costume on for a few minutes for family pictures and the rest of the time it is off of him.
If your doorbell will ring for you to pass out candy, put your dog in another room in the house that is quieter and with a door (and a familiar smelly blanket) to ensure there is no Houdini-like escape. Or, you can do like we do and stay outside on the front porch to pass out candy so the doorbell does not ring.
Chocolate and candy are a no-no for your dog. Instead, have some dog treats at the ready.
Make sure your dog's ID tag is updated and accurate, including a microchip number. My dog's tag includes various information like my phone number, his microchip number, his vet and specialist numbers, dietary restrictions, etc. Of these, the phone number is the largest font.
This is an important one that most folks don't think about - let your dog see your costume transformation as you are getting ready so your dog doesn't suddenly think you are a stranger. Many years ago, I didn't do this and it was a mistake I learned from. I got ready with costume, makeup, wig, etc. in my bathroom and then came out of the bathroom and my pitbull was barking and growling. I had to instantly take the wig off and speak to my dog like normal, etc. From then on, I get ready in front of my dog. It is also helpful to take the wig off and the makeup with a wet wipe before you come back into the house. Our dogs guard our house - don't spook them!
A potty break is helpful before you go trick or treating. Not only is it usually light outside during that time of day, but your dog likely won't see all the glowing objects and moving things in costumes to spook him.
Some people use glow necklaces for dogs. However, if your dog might chew it, instead opt for reflective gear or LED collars.
Simply put, as you plan your Halloween festivities, plan for your dog too. It can go a long way.
What’s That Smell?
As the designated person in my household to track down and eliminate bad smells, I use Active in the garbage disposal and when washing my dogs blankets. It makes a serious improvement. Please support our Sponsor and eliminate bad smells in your house. I’m not saying that you stink…just…you know…it’s been a few weeks since the dog had a bath. And yes, I use Active with my workout clothes as well. It’s just more fun to blame the dog.
Ever Wondered Why Your Gym Clothes Never Smell 100% Clean?
It’s because activewear uses tightly woven synthetic fabrics to wick away sweat while you workout.
Unfortunately, traditional detergents use fabric softeners that can coat over sweat, dead skin, & bacteria trapping them inside these fabrics.
So once your body starts heating up… the smell inevitably returns.
ACTIVE solves this by using a scientifically formulated, all natural enzyme blend to break down these trapped contaminants once and for all!
Finally a solution to your smelly activewear!

Space Chic: Your Next Vacation Spot? Outer Space!
Early cabin fever and want to get out and see the world... or more like outer space? Well, lucky for you, you get to forget the cold, metallic space pods. The next big thing in space travel isn’t just zooming to the stars - it’s zooming there in style. Welcome to Haven-1, the world’s first commercial space station with interiors that would make even the swankiest hotels blush.
Set to launch in 2026 aboard SpaceX’s Falcon rocket, Haven-1 isn’t your average floating tin can. Nope, this space station offers the kind of cozy, wood-paneled interiors you'd expect from a chic city loft, not a spacecraft orbiting the planet.
Imagine sipping your space latte, feet propped up on a sleek wooden console, gazing out at the cosmos as Earth twirls beneath you. Gone are the days of cramped quarters and stiff jumpsuits. This station's interior aims to take space travel from "NASA mission" to "luxury getaway."
Get ready, space tourists - 2026 is shaping up to be the year to orbit in style. I'm inspired for the next getaway. I'll start saving my shiny pennies for a trip that will no doubt be out of this world. Now, how many outfits do I need for space and do they have a coffee maker?

Fresh Produce, No Land Needed
Imagine strolling through New York City, dodging taxis, and smelling hot dog carts, when - wait, what’s that? A floating garden? Yep, that’s right! Swale, a barge-turned-floating-garden, is cruising around NYC, and instead of ferrying people, it’s delivering a boatload (emphasis added) of fresh, free veggies. I like the free part. Kale, tomatoes, herbs, the list goes on and on - like Whole Foods but floating on water on a pop-up farm.
The barge that operates as a mobile food source is on a mission to make sure that city folks get access to fresh food without needing a VIP membership to a fancy grocery store. It's inspiring as sustainable agriculture. Think outside the box that is a grocery store.
No shirt, no shoes, no problem (although please put on a shirt). No charge, no hassle. I recommend a salad from the Hudson.
We LOVE Halloween!
The costumes, special treats, and of course everything that glows in the dark make fabulous parties in the evening.
Pumpkin spice lattes, caramel apples, and cider make the days equally fun. This is the time of year when we test our dogs’ patience with those costumes and photos so treats and toys are included for motivation.
We spent the past few weeks evaluating over 10,000 items on Amazon to find the coolest Halloween stuff this year. To save you from having to spend that much time, we compiled our absolute favorites in a free Halloween eCatalog.
It’s crazy that some items are already selling out of inventory so if you love Halloween as much as we do, now is a good time to browse for something new.
Happy Halloween
