Costume Contests, A Kissing Booth, and Bobbing for Love
Enter your dog in the Howl-ishly Good Dog Costume Contest, see a Guinness world record for the longest tongue, and find love while bobbing for apples.
In the midst of pumpkin this and pumpkin that, let’s be a rebel and focus on apples. But before you do that, open your mind (and your snorkel gear) to mail a postcard that is one of a kind and then learn about a legendary dog. As always, wrap it up with Sassy Max and his thoughts on apple bobbing to round out the view. Also, don’t forget about the dog Halloween costume contest going on. We have so many cute photos posted thanks to you - let’s keep it going! (And I may or may not go and look for the newer dogs posted during my work.) Vote for your favorite pup here.

Dash to Mail in a Splash
That postcard won't mail itself. Grab your snorkel and mail that postcard. That's what happens in the world's first underwater post office located off Hideaway Island in Vanuatu. It opened in 2003 and locals and tourists were like woah. So... how would you mail that postcard?
When you get to the underwater post office, you will be greeted by postmasters who are certified divers. They give you waterproof postcards and a pencil to write your message underwater. Can you imagine? I hope my family doesn't expect a long message! Then, simply put your postcard into the underwater mailbox (of course). Ya know, simply. The diver postmasters will put a special stamp on that postcard so your recipient knows of its aquatic origin. After all of that, they'd better!
And to think... all of my life I just went into the local shop and bought a regular postcard. What was I thinking? I should be buying a snorkel. Send some deep sentiments from the deep blue. I'm telling my sister not to get me another knick knack this holiday season and go for the snorkel stuff instead. I got things to mail.

Dog Safety For Children
A heartwarming tale about making friends with dogs—perfect for little animal lovers! Fido Fly supports children’s literacy and encourages all children to learn gentleness with dogs. “Read it again” is the most common response from children when someone reads the story to them. They love the cute dog and the friendship story. |

Check it: A few years ago, you were out and about, feelin' fly, and suddenly you spotted what looked like the world’s most exaggerated smile – wow, a tongue that just won’t quit! That was Mochi, the St. Bernard whose playful personality was as long as her world-record-holding tongue. Measuring a whopping 7.3 inches, it was more than just a mouthful—it set a Guinness World Record! Back in the day, you got so many kisses from Mochi that you called her Mo.
Mochi's story is really something. The South Dakota superstar didn’t start off in the limelight. Rescued from a situation, she was adopted by Carla and Craig Rickert, who couldn’t resist her goofy charm and sweet nature. Over time, it became clear that Mochi was quite unique. Her extra-long tongue, which stuck out like a giant, floppy popsicle, became both her quirk and her claim to fame. Go Mo!
Mochi's claim to fame had her gobbling up treats at lightening speed - imagine that treat budget. Seriously though, she's pretty great to remember because she became a symbol of resilience and love for rescued pets. Sometimes the quirkiest features lead to the biggest smiles (apparently not for my family, but for dogs, sure).

Bobbin' for Love
Apple bobbing stems from a long ago in the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain (pronounced "Sow-en") that marked the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter. Forget Coachella - Samhain was the hottest event of the year and they would see the spirits of their ancestors mingling with the living.
But apple bobbing wasn't what it is today - it was more romantic. It was when magic and matchmaking were all the rage (in person, not from dating apps - can you imagine?). Kind of like how the first person to catch a flower bouquet is allegedly the next to get married (if so, there aren't enough flowers in the world for me). During Samhain, the unmarried people would try to bite into an apple floating in the water without using their hands but the difference from today is back then the first person to successfully bite an apple was said to be the next to marry. If you were the winning bobber, you also allegedly had good fortune and romantic success. All from an apple, so it's a cheap way to try to get good fortune. If it were still a thing, I would bob daily trying for that good fortune. Ch-ching.
Today, people wear strategically colored clothes to dunk their heads in water and go for the gold, ahem, I mean the slippery apple. What a prize! You get to walk away with the apple at least so you aren't empty handed.
We LOVE Halloween!
The costumes, special treats, and of course everything that glows in the dark make fabulous parties in the evening.
Pumpkin spice lattes, caramel apples, and cider make the days equally fun. This is the time of year when we test our dogs’ patience with those costumes and photos so treats and toys are included for motivation.
We spent the past few weeks evaluating over 10,000 items on Amazon to find the coolest Halloween stuff this year. To save you from having to spend that much time, we compiled our absolute favorites in a free Halloween eCatalog.
It’s crazy that some items are already selling out of inventory so if you love Halloween as much as we do, now is a good time to browse for something new.
Happy Halloween

The fib is C. A leap year occurs every four years unless the year is divisible by 100 but not by 400. This means 2000 was a leap year, but 1900 was not.
