Ready to party? National Dog Month kicks off now. Live it up. Then be inspired for some, ahem, permanent embellishments, look for your house of serenity, and grab a chuckle. All the good emotions. My lil babe and I will be celebrating to the max. You do the same until we meet again.

Furry Fiesta: National Dog Month

If we ever needed an excuse to pamper our little furry babes, enter August. August is the National Dog Month, right in the dog days of summer, and it celebrates the incredible bond between humans and dogs. Dogs provide us with unconditional love, protection, and companionship. If you don't believe it, just leave the house for a bit and return back home - you will likely be flooded with tail wags and kisses.

Whether you are seasoned or new to your canine crew, there are so many options to change it up for your dog to keep it lively and fresh.

  • Scavenger hunt - Hide treats and toys around your house or yard for your dog's nose to find - just remember where you put them all!

  • New terrain - Is your dog used to a certain path for the walk? Change it up to a new field, park, or plan to walk. The new scenery and the new smells will rock your dog's world. Road trip, anyone?

  • New treasure - This one is a no-brainer since most dogs love toys. This could also be a new blanket, bed/pillow, or interactive food puzzle, etc. You can even make homemade toys or beds using materials at home (many DIY tutorials online).

  • Special treat - Whip up and freeze healthy dog treats for convenience, like a meal prepping concept. Some areas also offer canine cooking classes so you can refine your skills.

  • Pup par-tay - Get some of your dog's friends together to enjoy a play session. Water, shade options, and special treats galore.

  • Extra love - Extra attention, snuggles, scratches, belly rubs, and interactive play with your dog.

  • Pooch paparazzi - Ok, a photo shoot is more likely for your benefit :)

So grab that leash, extra treats, and other goodies from these ideas and see how much more your dog's tail can wag this month. Let the celebration begin!

Welded Wonders and Seamless Style

Did you ever put on a piece of jewelry and then have trouble getting it off? Well, you certainly would with what is trending in popularity - permanent jewelry. As you may guess, there is no clasp for permanent jewelry. Instead, the jewelry is welded together for a continuous loop that stays until it is cut off. These pieces may appeal for the minimalist look and convenience.

Not as permanent, but a similar idea is the iconic Cartier Love Bracelet. Aldo Cipullo created this bracelet with screwdriver marks following a romantic breakup. It symbolized love and commitment and it required a special screwdriver to secure it. Nowadays, luckily, it isn't as permanent but the story and meaning behind it symbolizes eternal love.

Home Sweet Zen

What's the saying? Your home is your sanctuary. Now it can be even more of a sanctuary from a growing trend in real estate to incorporate wellness elements in your home. People are becoming more aware of the impact their home has on their health and wellness.

What would you select from the options list?

  • Improving sleep - Soundproofing spaces, advanced air filtration systems, and even lighting that adjusts to the time of day.

  • Improving relaxation - Meditation and quiet areas inside the house and garden and water features for a calming effect outside of your house.

  • Improving health - Optimizing natural light, dedicated space for a gym, and using non-toxic materials when building your house.

Additionally, there are some wellness communities that are popping up with communal areas like gardens and lounges to support connection with others. While you may not be in the market for a new wellness house, you can incorporate things like blackout curtains and sound machines. Do you say to your kids ‘be quiet for 15 minutes’? If you are in the market for a wellness house, you could send them to the actual quiet zone (or it could be your hangout away from the chaos).

Chuckle

The fib is C. Despite being a mythical creature, the unicorn is Scotland's official national animal, symbolizing purity and power. It appears on their royal coat of arms.
