Lost Marbles, Drool-Worthy Leftovers, and Sassy Max
Sassy Max has noticed that people need a boost of happiness and would like everyone to enjoy a day sleeping on the couch.
Ooh, stretching today, or at least reclining? I swapped my stretchy pants out for stretchier pants. Goodness. Today I recognize Black Friday and provide tips as it relates to your dog and Sassy Max weighs in on your marbles. I also share some tips for what to do with some of those leftovers today (besides your belly). I’ll be over here having a yawning contest with my dog. We are both wiped out. He doesn’t need stretchy pants though - jealous.
🎁 Don’t forget to join our Fido Family! Also, submit your adorable pup’s picture in the Christmas dog contest that is underway and view other submissions for a smile to your day.

What’s Wrong With Your Dog
Losing Your Marbles On Black Friday
Black Friday is here, and with it comes the chaos: frantic convenient clicking, endless deal-hunting, and the occasional “Can you believe they’re sold out already?!” meltdown. While you’re juggling promo codes and wishlists, have you noticed your dog giving you that look? You know the one—head tilt, worried eyes, maybe even a sigh. Yep, your dog might think you are losing your marbles with the shopping experience and it could make him tense.
Dogs are masters at picking up on our vibes. Whether you’re hyped about snagging a great doorbuster deal or spiraling over missing out on that 50% off air fryer, your dog knows. They don’t need to understand the concept of "doorbuster sales" to feel your frantic energy bouncing around the room. Signs that your dog is picking up on your stress include:
Excessive pacing (while you’re pacing between screens)
Unusual clinginess (because you’re their safe zone)
Deep, dramatic sighs (to remind you that someone in the house is being neglected)
Before you dive into that next flash sale, hit pause for some quality cuddle time. Snuggle up on the couch, give them a belly rub, or toss their favorite toy for a quick game. A few minutes of focused attention can work wonders for both of you—your dog gets reassurance, and you get a break from the madness. Your dog gives you good reminders that you need to chill, defrost of sorts.

Feast On This
Turning Scraps into Canine Cuisine
Ahhhh, the hustle and bustle of Thanksgiving is over... we are in our pajamas or leisure suits (please put on some pants!), feet kicked up... perhaps wondering how many glasses of wine you must have had the night before... and no doubt your dog is loving the downtime as well. Your fridge may be bursting with leftovers (I know ours always is because every year we think we haven't made enough yet end up making enough to then say i can't believe we have so much leftover - this is the same pattern every year). But while you’re eyeing that turkey sandwich, why not whip up something special for your four-legged family member? With a little creativity and a lot of love, you can turn holiday scraps into a feast fit for your furry best friend—safely, of course!
So what's on the menu? Before you start tossing ingredients into your pup’s bowl, let’s talk doggy dos and don’ts. Plain turkey (no seasoning, no skin) is a yes! Sweet potatoes, green beans, and carrots are also safe and healthy options if they are plain. On the flip side, stuffing, gravy, onions, garlic, and desserts are all in the danger zone. Keep it simple— dogs are happy when their bellies don't hurt. Of course, keep in mind any dietary restrictions your dog may have and consult your veterinarian to be sure.
Leftover Recipes Your Dog Will Drool Over
Turkey & Sweet Potato Biscuits: Mash some plain sweet potatoes with shredded turkey, mix it into whole-wheat flour, and bake little biscuits for a tasty treat. I may try mixing the plain sweet potatoes with my dog's wet food and then baking those little goodies.
Frozen Turkey Broth Bites: Use the leftover turkey bones to make plain broth (no salt or spices), freeze it in an ice cube tray, and voilà—instant dog popsicles. (Do NOT give the bones to your dog.)
Green Bean & Turkey Bowl: Mix plain green beans and plain turkey for a quick, protein-packed meal that your dog will inhale faster than you can say “Black Friday.”
Whipping up one of these dog-safe recipes is a way to thank your dog for putting up with all the noise and chaos from Thanksgiving day, from tiny diva's Elsa toys to the family talking over each other for several hours to the football games blasting on tv because Gramps doesn't use his hearing aid or his Bose tv speaker. Your lil fur babe will be just as thankful as you are. And let’s be honest - happy dogs make the holidays even better.
Psst! Does your little one like to receive presents?
To save you time, we scavenged through over 10,000 items on Amazon to find the best stuff. We were dismayed that many items are already gone so we stocked up in our own store to make sure you can find the perfect gift. We offer two ways to shop here.
And yes, we included a few goodies for you as well. Fido Fly is about boosting happiness for pet parents AND pups.

The fib is A. The term "Black Friday" originally had a negative meaning. It was first used by Philadelphia police in the 1950s to describe the chaotic crowds and traffic jams caused by post-Thanksgiving shopping.
