This week’s edition is equal parts posh and playful. First, we’re taking you inside Casa del Doggo, the Parisian pup paradise serving gourmet treats and five-star spa vibes to very good boys and girls - including our favorite divo, Sassy Max, who flat-out refuses to nap on a floor mat and instead demands memory foam and mood lighting. Then, things get delightfully unhinged with a look at the sweet, chaotic rise of chaos cakes and rebel floats - the desserts that said “no thanks” to tradition and “yes please” to glitter, neon, and unfiltered joy. Buckle up because it’s going to be a wild, sugar-dusted ride and my sweet tooth cravings are first in line.

Got a dog with main character energy? We want to see them! Send us a pic and a little backstory at [email protected], and your pup could be featured in an upcoming newsletter (yes, fame is just one adorable photo away). While you're at it, check out the Fido Family newsletter because it's packed with helpful, non-boring info about keeping your dog healthy, happy, and maybe a little spoiled. Oh, and don’t forget: we’ve got a free guide on dog-safe plants you can use so your home can be cute and canine-approved. Who doesn’t love a freebie? 🌿🐾

What’s Wrong With Your Dog

Pawffection in Paris: Inside the World's First Dog Café and Spa

It's inspirational to think of a canine utopia built on the belief that dogs deserve more than just supervision. They deserve joy. It exists.

At Casa del Doggo in Paris, every guest is treated like family. Mornings start with personalized greetings and energy checks because one dog’s zoomies are another dog’s existential crisis. Staff tailor each dog’s day based on personality: the social butterflies head to supervised playgroups, the shy guys get enrichment puzzles or solo cuddle sessions, and the senior citizens can nap under sunlamps while spa music plays softly in the background.

The space itself feels less like a kennel and more like a boutique lodge. Turf fields that rinse themselves, misting stations on hot days, memory foam beds, and daily scent walks through a rotating lineup of lavender, rosemary, and whatever smells most like a squirrel this week. It also features a bakery, boutique, and cafe. The bakery serves dog-friendly treats like cupcakes, donuts, and the signature "Doggoccino," all made fresh daily with vet-approved ingredients.  The boutique features stylish accessories and care products. The café provides a cozy space for humans to enjoy beverages while their dogs socialize freely. There is even a dog wash that is equipped with quality grooming tools for a convenient cleanup. What more could you want? Of course there are real-time pupdates, live cams, and a custom report card, but I'm thinking I might check in to the senior spot - it sounds so relaxing.

2 Truths and a Fib
A. Red velvet cake gets its color from a chemical reaction between cocoa and acidic ingredients.
B. German chocolate cake is named after Samuel German, not the country.
C. Cake flour has more protein to help cakes rise taller and become chewier.
The answer is at the end of this newsletter.

We Can’t Stop Laughing (or Coloring)

We stumbled across these unhinged, unfiltered, definitely NSFW coloring pages—and now we can’t look away. They’re from a brand so gloriously inappropriate we can’t even print their name. Their website literally warns: “This is not a place for the weak.” If laughter is therapeutic, can we deduct this?

Float Like a Rebel, Slice Like a Freak: Dessert Just Got Loud

Not to brag, but I've had quite a lot of cake in my day. And I can be picky. But I haven't had this (yet) - have you? The new rage is the wild, weird, and wonderful world of chaos cakes and rebel floats, two sugary trends that have stormed our screens and our taste buds, leaving polite pastries trembling in their doilies (such fragile doilies, aren't they).

Let’s start with chaos cakes. Oh boy, these aren’t your grandma’s elegant buttercream roses. Nope - these cakes look like a birthday party collided with a candy store and then took a detour through a Dali painting. Now we're talkin' - think leaning layers, frosting drips like lava, googly eyes made of fondant, sour worms dangling off the edge, and frosting swirls in colors not found in nature. It's artistic self-expression or, as my brother-in-law would call it, lunch.

Then come the rebel floats. All I think of with floats is a root beer float but I never got into them. But what if the root beer floats went on a gap year and came back with a nose ring and a passion for kombucha? Rebel floats combine fizzy drinks with unexpected scoops: matcha with lychee soda, cold brew with tahini ice cream, hibiscus soda with jalapeño sorbet. They're bubbly, they're bold, and they ask the important question: what if your drink had a personality disorder - in a good way? This one I could get into and has me salivating as I write to you.

These trendy desserts remind me of my youth (or yesterday) - they’re sweet, sassy, and unapologetically over the top. Stress is so beige, so it makes sense to add a neon-swirled cake and a lavender fizz float to get out of your head. These desserts don't care a lick what desserts are supposed to look like so neither will I while I devour them.

We hate inflation

Prices are forecasted to rise through 2025 and so now is a good time to lock in that pup training class that you have been considering. We are big fans of Doggie Dan’s style of positive-reinforcement rather than punishment. The best part is that his initial sessions are free.

Chuckle

The fib is C. Cake flour is finer and has less protein than all-purpose flour.
